HTA’s Latest Accomplishment

Stone Summit, the country’s largest indoor climbing gym has just opened in Atlanta! With 45,000 total square feet this gym takes up nearly the same space as a football field and has 30,000 square feet of climbable surface. What started out as critiques of other gyms, the owners Daron Pair and Daniel Luke came up with a conceptual idea and brought it to Herring Troy Associates to design. The idea was to have a wall that reached a height of 60 feet with unobstructed viewing areas for major competitions and to give indoor climbers the same challenges found outdoors.

HTA’s involvement in the project was a total exterior and interior integrated design solution to maximize site advantages. The building exterior was designed as headquarters type building for this unique facility. The Interior was designed to create maximum visual and operational effects of indoor climbing.

Designed for a multi generational crowd of athletic, forward thinking users HTA crafted an environment that compliments a climbing wall full of angles and whips that was manufactured by a Bulgarian company, Walltopia. With a lot of natural light, bright colors and innovative lighting we were able to eliminate the cave like feeling that is found in many other facilities around the country and create an atmosphere that is energetic even to non climbers.
